Fabric consumption calculator.
Yards per garment from your marker, and how much fabric to order for the run. Free, nothing to sign up for.
How it is calculated
Consumption per garment = marker length × (1 + end loss) ÷ garments in the marker.
End loss covers the fabric lost at each end of the lay and at splices. A few percent is typical. The fabric to order then adds your allowance for defects, shrinkage and cutting waste on top.
A worked example
A marker 8.7 yards long holds 6 jeans. With 2% end loss, that is 8.7 × 1.02 ÷ 6 = 1.48 yards per garment. For 1,200 units with a 3% allowance, order about 1,828 yards.
Where the number comes from
This calculator needs a marker length. AMI lays the marker from the graded pattern, so the consumption comes out of the file instead of an estimate. See what comes back.
